About his mythology Costume: He drapes the tiger skin print over
his body, made up of butter crepe cloth material. Adorned with Long Rudraksh Mala
Necklace, Artificial Snake wrap-around in the neck, Chand-Moon on his head,
Rudraksha mala to tie on the hair bun, Pair of Rudraksha Wrist bands, holding
Trishul and Damru on his hand gives a complete feeling to the attire.
About our Bal Shiva(Sharva’s) Damru Play: Sharva do prepare to
fierce Tandava dance by beating damru to make trembling sounds.
Feel the verve of this festival, MahaShivratri is the auspicious
night of Lord Shiva. The day falls on 13th night(waning moon)/14th day of
Krishna Paksha of Phalguna(February/March) Month of Hindu
calendar, celebrated with great enthusiasm all over India. Every year millions
of devotees fasting in the honor of Lord Shiva and offer prayers in various
Shiva temples. People Perform some rituals on this day by offering coconut
milk, Bael leaves and fruits to Lord Shiva and the sacred mantra of Shiva, “Om Namah
Shivaya” is chanted through the day.
The ardent devotees keep awake all night. Some others visit
one of the Shiva temples. Yoga and Self reflection are central to this festival
time.
